1.] In 2000, officials at the Univesity of Wisconsin at Madison digitally inserted a black student's face into a photo of white cheering football fans for the cover of the new application brochure. Their intention was to advertise the university's diverse student body, but most found the manipulation offensive. The younger brother of a reporter for the school newspaper noticed the difference; he pointed out that the black students whose face was used, Diallo Shabazz, had a glare while the others did not. Officials at the school have apologized for this "error in judgement" and are reprinting some 50,000 brochures with a different cover picture.
