negative critque

There were no major problems with my negatives other than a few water spots; this is easily fixed by rewashing and wiping off the water a little more thoroughly.

The negatives I'm choosing to print are #s 13 and 15. Negative no. 13 is cool to me because you can't see any faces, just bodies and entertwined hands. There are a pair of hands being held that's right in the middle of the photo, so it makes an awesome looking subject. Negative no. 15 is a good choice because you can see everyone working together to get the girl over the other arms. The expressions on the faces are cool because they're a mixture between confusion and frustration. Because it was taken vertically, more people were fit into the frame and you can see that they're all crouched down. Cool lookin' picture.

Academics

"the story"

This tells a story to me because of the girl with her head in her hand, writing her assignment, with people behind her in blurred action. The story is she is overwhelmed by school because everything is "whizzing by her." That's just what I got from it.

"action and emotion"

This picture shows the most action because... there's a huge ball of fire. The look on the guys face who's holding the lighter is one of awe.

"filling the frame"

This picture fills the frame the best because the trumpet players face fills up the background, and her fingers and the trumpet valves fill up the foreground. There's not a spot in the picture that doesn't have to do with the subject : the trumpet and its player.

Contest Pictures

This picture won first place in "Beg Color Landscape" in the 2002 Fall Contest. It is inspirational to me because I like the way the fog is covering the end of the staircase so it creates a sense of infinite space. Also, the way the trees clear to show the staircase is really cool.

Pinhole Review

There is no person or action in this picture; there is also no blur because its a still life of some very cool looking architecture. Everything in this picture is in focus and nothing is warped.

There is no person or action in this photo either but I really don't like this one as much because the subject/architecture is not as appealing to the eye. Everything is pretty much in focus but there is some warping and fading in the upper left corner.
